Oxford English Dictionary

June 2005 newsletter

The June OED News has an American flavour. Pamela Roper Wagner, an OED
library researcher in Washington, DC, writes about how her search to find
earlier examples of words sent to her by the OED editors leads her through
characteristically American sources ranging from the letters of Benjamin
Franklin to modern-day rap music. Alan Hartley, a researcher for the OED
Reading Programmes, is based in Duluth, Minnesota. He describes the
challenges and joys of his work for the OED.

OED News contains articles by editors, researchers, and contributors on
their work for the OED, and regular updates on the progress of the
revision programme. We will let you know by e-mail as soon as each issue
is published, to keep you informed about the latest news and developments
on the OED.
